It always seems that when ever you blink your eyes or turn the corner, BAM here come the Holidays again. It is truly one of my favorite times of year. A lot of familiar faces always are in town and stop in. Handy’s has always been a meeting place for many. Just recently, the mayorial canidates for the city of Burlington, have been making weekly trips just to stop in and do a little meet and greet. Good Luck to both of you. Many have been finding Handy’s via the web, like Yelp.com. Thank you to all those who have been posting these reviews and directing these new customers to us. As you know once a Handy’s customer always a customer.
With the Holidays arriving, this is the time of year to get that special someone a gift card or/and our newest T-shirt. Special offers will begin on Black Friday and continue through Christmas.
Follow these specials and other Holiday deals on twitter.com @handyslunch or on our facebook page. Just click on the links on the homepage.
Happy Holidays and we hope to see you soon,
Earl
In all my years of working at Handy’s I am pleased to say that we are more then just a diner filled with hamburgers and hot dogs. Don’t get me wrong I could eat them everyday, but once in awhile you need a change. That’s where our new relationship with Boars Head meats & cheeses come in.
We are now offering a variety of amazing meats & more cheese then ever! From the ovengold turkey, sweet sliced ham, to the vermont cheddar or 3 pepper colby jack. These are now not just offered in our subs and sandwiches but also by the pound. So if you can’t make it to Handy’s, then you can get some to bring home and brown bag it.
Lunch meetings, team bus trips or just an occasional party Handy’s can provide meat & cheese platters of any size to meet your catering needs. Boxed lunches are served with a bag of chips and homemade cookies, fruit is always an option too.
If there is anything we can do for you just let us know. No job to big or too small.
See you soon,
Earl
Well, it sure has been awhile since we last blogged. It is all for good reasons though. Since January, Handy’s has gone through a little facelift on our windows. All new decals have been designed in partnership with Coca-cola for all our years (all 66 of them to be exact) of service.
We have designed new t-shirts as well, with some help from our Marketing team up at Champlain College. Elaine Young’s marketing #410 class was part of getting Handy’s on the map on the college campus.
The newest addition of all is that I am very proud to announce that we are now serving only Boar’s Head meats and cheeses! Now the best has only become even better.
Happy New Year all! What a great year 2010 was. Within this year Handy’s is taking over the internet, between social media and this website. Thanks to all that follow us on twitter and facebook. We have a lot to celebrate this year as well. Handy’s is now in our 65th year of business! Keep your eye out for limited T-shirts and Handy’s gear coming out soon with a new logo.
In a move to go green, all the lights have been converted to be energy efficient to help reduce our carbon footprint. Also a new dishwasher is being installed in February, that uses 50% less water and electricity than our current one.
In 2010, we have hosted some “ladies days” and a tweet-up with much success, and look forward to hosting more. Don’t worry guys we’ll have a day just for you too.
I am currently in my 15th year as the 3rd generation owner and look forward to many more years.
See you soon,
Earl
Hey all, it sure has been a while since we blogged. In the time that we have been away, Handy’s Lunch has been a host to 2 great Burlington, Vermont events.
The first, is that we were part of the South End Art Hop. This was an amazing evening, we were open at night which for all you regulars know that only happens on July 3rd. So, it was Handy’s after dark with the art work of Artist Carole Merrill-Mazurek on the wall. The art was beautiful and the atmosphere was fun, I look forward to being a host again next year and many more following.
The second, sticking with the art theme is the John Brickel’s Mad Scientist Workshop breakfast. The mad scientist begin their evening at John’s studio on Pine Street at 3am then make their way over to the diner around 6:30am while their robots are drying. There are going to be more workshops make sure to check one out, johnbrickels.com.
The last thing I have to let you know about is that we were nominated by www.wherethelocalseat.com as a 2010 featured restaurant in Burlington,Vermont!!! check out the link on our home page. Not to brag but we received a great review out on www.yelp.com! Thanks to all who nominated us and reviewed us, we truly appreciate it.
Wow, that’s was a ton of information. Take it all in and we will see you soon!
As always, those who have been in thank you, and those who have not you have been missed,
Earl
It has been a while since we’ve blogged, but we’ve had an amazing couple of weeks. Tourism has been at a high, college students are making their way back to Burlington, and we we’re Runner-up in the 2010 SevenDays Daysies Awards for “best Twitter feed”! Yes, we we’re Runner-up to Social Media King Shay Totten, we are very happy and proud considering we just started all of the social media campaign in February.
Be on the look out for up coming events…

Well it has been a little while since we’ve blogged, so this is what’s new…It has been soooo hot in Burlington this past week. We celebrated this by having $1 ice cream cone day on Thursday, with much success. It was a lot of fun too. The staff from is still Ryan, but there are few people starting to chase the mayorship.
We also had a private party Saturday morning. Artist John Brickels http://www.brickels.com/gallery/index_robots.html brought in a mad scientist robot making class for breakfast. The class started 3am and went to 6am finishing it off with a little Handy’s and “Robot” pancakes. check out the pictures on our Facebook fan club.
If you in, as always thanks. If you we’re now your caught up.
See you soon,
Earl
Well, it came and went with no award. However, we had a chance to meet a ton of amazing new customers and the faces behind the tweets. I really thought we had a chance to win the best #btv biz award, but lost to Small Dog Electronics. Congrats to @pmgnicole and @shaytotten for being the Queen/King of the day.
On another business note we just upgraded our Orange Juice to Florida’s Natural yesterday as well, and it’s delicious.
See you soon,
Earl
Well we sure had one great week! We had a lot of new faces come in and a few old faces too. One customer in particular was remembering when my dad was around whistling the “yellow rose of Texas”, along with entering the diner from the corner of the building not the current entrance. That goes back awhile(almost before me!). We have a big week ahead of us! It’s Social Media Day on 6/30/10 and then 7/3/10 is our Texas Hot dog night where we’re open til 9:30 to help get you through the day, just before the Fireworks at Perkins Pier 1 block away. It’s been exciting lately adding new things to the menu as well. The addition of Milkshakes and Sweet Potato Tots have been a huge success, so look forward to seeing those on the menu the next time you come in.
See you all soon : )
Earl
